The Kiddush is a blessing recited over the wine to sactify the Sabbath and the Jewish Holidays. It is recited before the meal on Sabbath evening and morning. It can be said over red wine, white wine, and grape juice. The blessing over the wine which is a part of every kiddush - whether on Sabbath or Holidays - is "Bore Pri HaGefen", meaning - "creator of the fruit of the vine".
There are two main designs of kiddush cups which are both found on our site. In Sephardic tradition, the cup used for the Kiddush has no stem or base. The Ashkenazik traditional cup is goblet like, having a stem and a base. All our cups enjoy fantastic adornments, including beautiful enamel work, fabulous filigree work, gorgeous hammered texture, amazing Jerusalem skyline decoration, modern angles, unique dual cup, and great Yemenite motifs.
All of our cups are delicately and proffesionaly made of 925 marked sterling silver. The interior of all the cups is beautifully gilded (24k gold plated), in order to prevent the unpleasant taste of the silver from having an affect on the the taste of the wine.
This is a great way of holding on to the ancient Jewish tradition. The cups make for fantastic Judaica gifts to a Bar Mitzvah boy. As he enters into the adult Jewish world, there is no greater gift than recieving a glorious kiddush cup directly from Jerusalem.
