Mezuzot
One of our great Judaica gifts is our Mezuzot cases. Made of the finest materials in today's market by expert Israeli craftsmen, these beautiful items are a must in every Jewish home.
The mezuzah is a piece of parchment inscribed with the two first chapters of the Jewish prayer "Shema Israel"which begin with the famous verse - "Listen, Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One."
The mezuzah is seen in every Jewish home, affixed to the doorframe of the entrance of the house. Many families believe that a Mezuzah should be placed in every doorpost in the house apart from bathrooms, and small closets. The parchment is meticulously written by a Sofer Stam, a qualified scribe who has to make sure there are absolutely no mistakes, and is then gently rolled up and put inside the Mezuzah case.

The Mezuzah is believed to protect the household , keeping all its residents from all evil. This is why many Jewish families will not sleep in a new home until they ave set the Mezuzah. It is a much popular tradition for a person to kiss a Mezuzah upon entering or exiting a door. The most common decoration of the case is the word "Shadai" - one of G-d's names. Often, only the first letter "Shin" decorated the case.
This sacred item of our ancient heritage makes for a fantastic Judaica gift. Being beautiful and practical at the same time, with our Mezuzot you can't go wrong.
