Special Plates for Special Cups

These plates match our beautiful Kiddush cups selection. In addition to adding beauty and grace to the kiddush cup and the Shabbat table, these plates have several uses of their own. One of those uses are related to the Havdallah - a ritual which officially ends the Sabbath. It is custom to pour out plenty of wine into the cup, as a sign of prosperity. The plate holds the extra wine which spills when lifting the cup.

Another use of the plates for kiddush cups is on Passover. During the reading of the Hagadah, when reciting the ten plagues G-d inflicted upon the Egyptians, people spill a drop of wine from the cup to the plate. To have a matching set of cup and plate adds much joy to the occasion.
