Mezuzah Cases
A Mezuzah to Bless Your Home
The word ‘mezuzah’ literally means doorpost in Hebrew. But the word is used today to mean the parchment enclosed in a case affixed to the doorpost of every Jewish home.
The scroll is inscribed with the Shema Yisrael prayer which begins “Hear O’ Israel, the Lord is our G-d, the Lord is One”. The case is used to protect the parchment from the elements.
Our Judaica artists have created truly beautiful mezuzah cases, made of sterling silver, anodized aluminum, and incredible enamel work that make a great gift for you or your friends.
Mezuzot For Sale
The parchment rolled up inside the Mezuzah case is written by a Sofer Stam, a qualified scribe who has been trained to write the letters in the ancient Ashurite script. He must be 100% accurate in his writing and careful that no mistakes are found in the text. The parchment we sell is written in Israel and therefore possess an extra degree of holiness.

In the Jewish tradition it is believed the Mezuzot on the doorposts protect all those living there from harm. That is why mezuzot are fixed to the main entrance of the home and many of the interior rooms as well, before the family moves into the house. Baltinester offers many different styles of cases. Some are decorated with enamel work or semi precious stones, Yemenite filigree work, or colorful anodized aluminum. We also offer mezuzah pendants worn as jewelry.
